Here’s something fun - way back in 2005, Roger Houdaille (Ex Norwegian) and Chris Price (Emitt Rhodes, Linda Perhacs) teamed up to create a band named Monkeypox. This band came with an entire fictional history as well as each band member adopting an eccentric character: Johnson Jackson from Guinea, Junior Bevel from Aruba, Maurier Debbouze from France and Ahmed Imo-Tep from someplace in Arabia.

While the concept may have gone over many peoples heads, not the least the band members themselves, the songs didn’t and they resonated highly with their rabid local fan base, who caught what was known as PoxMania. Monkeypox's light shone bright but after a fleeting spring/summer of non-stop work, the all too soon Monkeypox dream and PoxMania was over as quickly as it started. Chris moved to Los Angeles and signed with Geffen Records while Roger launched his band Ex Norwegian, eventually.

Aside from recording a live album, double studio album, and several singles…not to forget a set of solo EPs, Monkeypox filmed a feature length movie called In Limbo which was written and performed by the band and can still be found on YouTube; however, it is highly not recommended viewing.

Think Like A Key Records is a little more than excited to bring out The Mostly Complete Recordings of Monkeypox. This collects the entire Hey! That’s My Wife! Get Your Own album plus non-album singles, b sides and the In Limbo soundtrack recordings. These songs and fun showcases for the early songwriting talents of Chris and Roger as well as the essential talent of Eric Hernandez (Wrong, Torche) on drums. All recordings were self-recorded and produced with only basic equipment, but manage to capture an excitement and naivety in time that one simply can’t reproduce again.
